Building a hexagon-shaped low-profile deck has been a long-standing goal since our earliest days in outdoor carpentry. Since hexagon decks are rarely requested, this personal project was the perfect opportunity to bring the idea to life. The opportunity came when a low deck was needed in the middle of the backyard.
In the following site plan, the Deck 2 in the middle, beside the maple tree, is what we are describing.
Because the back door and ground floor sit very low, the deck needed to be as low as possible. To maintain structural strength, 2×8 beams and joists were used. The posts were set about 4 inches into the ground to minimize the overall deck height.
We are located in Toronto, serving customers across the GTA, Lake Simcoe, and the Niagara region.
