This deck was designed by an architect who applied house framing principles to the deck structure, resulting in a design quite different from typical deck construction. The result was beautiful, especially with the posts exposed rather than hidden beneath the deck. The exposed posts became a striking design element.
To complement this unique design, the original stair plan was replaced with a solid lumber stair design inspired by an interior staircase concept.
