I want to make a hexgon shape low profile deck since the first day I became a outdoor carpenter. Since there is no customer want a hexgon shape deck, my wish never accomplished until I bought my own house and I found I need a low deck in the middle of backyard.

In the following site plan, the Deck 2 in the middle, beside the maple tree, is what I talking about.

For the back door and ground floor of my house is really low, so my deck should be as low as possible, to make it strong enough, I still use 2×8 as beam and joists, I digged about 4″ into the ground, and plant the 6×6 post directly into the earth, this can save me a lot of height.
